Conclusion (Divine Light and Dhamma Light)

I translated the Kanni Meditation system for two purposes. The first one is to preserve a good system in the English language. The second one is for someone who wants to develop samatha practice and attain samādhi with the Kanni method.

If we study the report by the female yogi Daw Yin Yin in the fifth retreat, there were 18 male yogis and 10 female yogis, making a total of 28 yogis. Not all the yogis attained the light nimittas; only 6 male yogis and only 2 female yogis did so. Therefore, in total only 8 yogis attained the light nimittas. Not everyone who practises samatha with ānāpāna meditation attains the light nimitta, but the Kanni System is more suitable for developing it.

If we read the two reports by Sayadaw U Nandavaṃsa and yogi U Kyaw Win, we can see the effectiveness of this system. Here I want to remind readers who use this system without a teacher’s guidance and attain light nimittas that they should not use them for worldly matters by themselves (such as seeing this and seeing that). If they want to do so, they should approach a teacher who has skill in it.

As Saya U Htay Hlaing suggested, if a yogi attains the light nimitta by himself, he should stabilise it and develop insight practice. Wanting to see things is like watching TV and movies. The most important thing in Buddha-Dhamma is the ending of dukkha.

Sabbe sattā sukhitā hontu! May all beings be happy!
